PARALYMPIAN Jonnie Peacock left the judges and the studio audience stunned on tonight’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing after dancing a jive on his blade.
The double Olympic gold medallist lost his right leg amputated at the age of five after contracting meningitis, but that didn’t stop his performance tonight.
Performing a tricky jive to Chuck Berry classic Johnny B Goode, Jonnie revealed that he was wearing a brand new blade bought especially for the competition.
At the end of the routine, the star admitted that he found it difficult but was determined to push though– and after rising to the occasion, the judges were full of praise.
Shirley Ballas heaped praise on the star and said: “You might have thought it was tough on your blade but your kicks and flips were outstanding. It was fantastic.”
While Bruno teased: “If it looks good, it feels good, and trust me – you’re good.”
Viewers at home were also left stunned by the perseverance of the star and his ability to keep up with the speedy routine given his disability.
Branding him an “inspiration”, one wrote: “OMG. Jonny Peacock dancing the jive on #Strictly with his new blade. What a man. What a role model. He's amazing”
Another agreed and said: “Jonny Peacock deserves 10 for managing to do a dance like the jive at all! #Strictly Truly amazing effort!”
