“I grew up thinking I wasn’t any good at athletics, so I was scared. I had that fear. But look where I am now. Parasport is, and should be, about people putting themselves out there and not having that fear,”
Peacock was launching the new project with a visit to the Marjorie McClure Special School, in Chislehurst.
For him, Tokyo 2020 beckons, yet he modestly plays down his status as a star of the team. “There’s no pressure. We’ve got a really strong team. You could pick out any face. There’s probably 10 people who are serious contenders for winning gold medals again.
“We’ve got a strong team and I’m lucky to be apart of that. I don’t want to disrespect Rio, it was a great Games, but I do feel Tokyo will notch it up a level. For me, it’s about running faster and enjoying it.”
