Jonnie Peacock MBE

Double Paralympic T44 100m Champion

8 September 2012It's top secret...

Who is your Sporting hero?

All-time: David Beckham. I met him when I was younger. He's such a cool guy.

But at the moment, Oscar Pistorius. Legend.

What would you be if you weren't a sportsman?

I did a mechanics course when I was younger. I love fixing cars. I've got a qualification.

Which other sportsman would you like to be?

If I could switch lives with someone? I'm trying to think about the wife more than anything else. Frank Lampard, his missus is pretty something - Christine Bleakley. I've got a little thing for her. But he plays for Chelsea, I like Liverpool. So maybe Steven Gerrard, his missus Alex isn't too bad.

Career highlight?

Thursday's 100m final without a doubt. Walking out to the track, having the crowd cheer like that.

That would have been my career highlight regardless of gold or not. The gold just tops that night off. I didn't expect it to be that crazy.

... And the worst moment?

I was injured at the start of this season and missed about three races so that annoyed me for a little bit.

If your house was burning down, what one possession would you save?

My iPhone. I could not live without my phone. It's got everything on it. Pictures, messages, contacts, it's just my life.

What 's the best advice you've ever been given?

Whenever I get nervous before races, I tell myself: I chose to be here. I shouldn't be scared because ultimately it's what I love.

Favourite karaoke song?

I was out in Portugal with a few mates and we were all a bit tipsy and we did karaoke. We sang S Club 7's Reach for the Stars.

A bunch of guys. It was definitely not a success. Someone recorded it. I shouldn't have told you that, should I?

Last film you saw ?

It was Thursday night. Ace Ventura. I was trying to get to sleep but I couldn't so three hours into trying to get to sleep I played Ace Ventura and eventually that relaxed me and sent me off.

I haven't seen it for ages so I downloaded it as I wanted some comedy for the Village.

Last book you read?

I don't read much. I read Oscar Pistorius' book Blade Runner two years ago.

Can you cook? Best dish?

I just do the basics because I'm lazy. I do a chicken fajita mix. Lots of peppers, beans, mushrooms, cauliflower. And lots and lots of cheese.

In a film of your life, who would you like to play you?

Jim Carrey! That's who. Get him in there. He can die his hair blond. Not ginger, I need to put this out there. It's only when I start to put certain products in it that it starts to look ginger.

Tell us a secret...

I'm slightly afraid of heights. But to get a proper secret out of me you have to buy me a drink. Jaegerbombs will do.
