16 May 2013Jonnie Peacock feels the need to go the distance after London Paralympics

The 19-year-old, who took Oscar Pistorius’ title over the shorter distance in the capital, took time out before returning to action and will compete in the BT Great CityGames in Manchester on May 25.

Peacock said: ‘Of course there was a little bit of a downer after London but I got what I wanted out of it and I have got to look back on it all as an amazing memory.

‘It’s hard to set targets at the moment because you never know what is going to happen. I am still young and I don’t feel any pressure.

‘For the moment I’d like to do more 200m races this year, and target that.’

And Peacock says there has been a noticeable difference in the interest and knowledge of Paralympic events since London 2012.

‘It’s good to see now that people are taking an interest in Paralympic sports,’ he added.

‘We’re getting faces recognised and getting athletes out there in events that we wouldn’t last year.’
